Rumor: NVIDIA Plans to Discontinue RTX 5090, Future GB202 Chips to Be Redirected to RTX PRO Series

Reports suggest that the GeForce RTX 5090 is being discontinued. Hardware leaker MEGAsizeGPU stated that NVIDIA will allocate all future GB202 chips to RTX PRO professional products, ceasing their use in new RTX 5090 units. Since the Chinese market variant of the RTX 5090 also uses the GB202, related products are reportedly affected as well.

The GB202 chip is also used in the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell series and the RTX PRO 5000 series. If the chip allocation shifts as rumored, models in the GeForce series using the GB202 will be affected.

Another leaker, hongxing2020, claimed that the factory has received a notice to halt production of the RTX 5090. He also mentioned that the RTX 5080 24GB might replace the existing 16GB version as the top-tier model in the GeForce series. While rumors about the RTX 5080 24GB configuration have circulated multiple times, MEGAsizeGPU has not confirmed this replacement plan.

Currently, NVIDIA has not confirmed the discontinuation of the RTX 5090, the reallocation of GB202 chips, or plans for a new RTX 5080 model, nor has it announced any discontinuation dates.
