An overseas survey of Android users showed that among respondents interested in foldable phones, 43.7% were willing to consider switching to Apple's first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo.
Among them, 26.4% explicitly stated they are willing to switch devices, while another 17.3% said they would consider switching if camera performance were improved.
Looking at all respondents, 38.9% expressed no interest in foldable phones, 34.4% wished to continue using Android foldables, 16.1% were willing to switch to the iPhone Duo, and 10.6% were interested in the device but hoped for improved camera performance. The combined percentage of those explicitly willing to switch and those considering it conditionally was 26.7%.
After excluding respondents who are not interested in foldable phones, the proportion wishing to continue using Android foldables was 56.3%, still representing the majority. Since the survey respondents were predominantly Android users, the results only reflect the attitudes of this specific reader group and cannot be used to judge whether Android users will switch to iPhones on a large scale.
Relevant information indicates that the iPhone Duo may feature a screen with less noticeable creases, a wider body design, and exclusive software features, with a price tag of $1,999. However, some respondents cited price, camera performance, and system flexibility as barriers to switching. Some mentioned limitations when using iPhones with Windows devices; others were reluctant to give up Android's flexibility in installing third-party apps and managing files.
Additionally, some users indicated they would prioritize comparing foldable products from brands like Samsung, vivo, Honor, and OPPO. The survey shows that the iPhone Duo has entered the consideration set of some Android users, but its actual appeal will still depend on price, camera capabilities, and user experience.
