A YouTuber named j0nathan had his channel permanently banned after uploading gameplay footage of the newly released Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Resurrection.
Before the game's release, trailers published by Saber Interactive indicated that Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Resurrection would contain extensive explicit content. The game not only received an appropriate rating due to its heavy gore and violence but also includes significant sexual content and full nudity. Although this user edited the uploaded footage to comply with YouTube's guidelines, his channel was suddenly deleted.
He said, "I just showed gameplay footage of Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Resurrection, and YouTube deleted my video for 'nudity.' The issue was a brief scene at the beginning, which I had already blurred. Then, they completely deleted my entire channel, wiping out ten years of hard work!"
He also questioned the inconsistency in the platform's enforcement standards: according to him, there are still other videos of Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Resurrection on YouTube where the same scene remains unblurred, with some of those videos having over 30,000 views.
"What's even more outrageous is that there are still many videos of this game on the platform with that scene completely unblurred, some of which have even garnered over 30,000 views."
j0nathan stated that YouTube has not contacted him since the ban, nor informed him whether his channel could be restored. He also criticized the platform's automated systems, believing that such bans are automatically enforced by these systems, questioning whether anyone at YouTube is actually handling the matter, and expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of human communication during the appeal process.
Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Resurrection was released on October 8th, launching on PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and other platforms. Currently, the game has received "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam, with a 95% positive rating out of 1,887 reviews.
