Earlier this year, Starfield launched on the PS5, expanding beyond Xbox and PC platforms. Meanwhile, rumors about a Nintendo Switch 2 version have been circulating for some time.

News of Starfield being shelved comes from well-known leaker NateTheHate. He recently provided an update, stating that the Switch 2 version of Starfield encountered issues during development.

It's worth noting that NateTheHate did not explicitly state that the project has been canceled. However, he believes that given the current situation, it wouldn't be surprising if it were ultimately scrapped. Although he didn't reveal many specific details, considering the sheer scale of Starfield, it has long been assumed that porting the game to the Switch 2 would be no easy feat.

Starfield is a massive game, and even the Xbox Series S|X and PS5 face performance pressures in certain scenarios. Therefore, it wouldn't be surprising if Bethesda ultimately fails to deliver a functional Switch 2 version.

Bethesda's difficulties in developing the Switch 2 version of Starfield have also raised concerns about whether similar issues might arise in the porting of other major titles like GTA VI. Previously, the President of Nintendo of America addressed the topic of GTA VI coming to Nintendo platforms in an interview.
