Musk Claims You Can Shop with Grok by Taking a Photo of Your Credit Card! OpenAI Executive Fires Back

Elon Musk posted today introducing Grok's robot shopping capabilities: "When shopping, users only need to send a photo of their credit card to the chat dialog box. The Grok bot will search the entire web for the best price for the target product and automatically complete the purchase."

In response, OpenAI executive Tibo replied, "Then I might as well just leave my card here."

At the same time, he posted a photo of a fictional credit card to hint at the security risks of this feature. The cardholder's name is the poster THIBAULT SOTTIAUX, and "NOVA" is just a fictional label on this prop card.

Additionally, some users reported that Amazon has started blocking Grok's access.

Musk replied, "Grok will find another way to complete the purchase. I just ordered LEGO, and Grok bought it directly from the official LEGO website."

This June, SpaceX AI officially entered the consumer-grade artificial intelligence sector, starting with the instant retail field. Instant delivery platform Gopuff and SpaceX AI jointly launched the intelligent shopping assistant "Go."

Built on the Grok large language model and deeply integrated into the Gopuff App, the Go assistant seamlessly combines SpaceX AI's reasoning, voice, and image generation capabilities with Gopuff's inventory and logistics data, as well as real-time cultural signals from the X platform.

When users open the app, the system automatically generates a personalized suggested shopping cart based on time of day, location, order history, and real-time metrics. For returning customers, checkout can be completed with just one click.

Users don't need to enter keywords to search for specific products; they just need to describe a scenario (such as a party for watching a ball game or a healthy breakfast), and Go will automatically assemble the corresponding product list.

Furthermore, the system can predict the remaining stock of consumables like coffee and paper towels, proactively prompting restocking before they run out. Combined with Grok's voice technology, this enables completely hands-free natural language interaction and checkout.
