NetEase, the developer of Marvel Rivals, is implementing exceptionally tight security measures to ensure that content related to the Avengers: Doomsday crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe films does not leak prematurely.
2026 is a crucial year for the Marvel Rivals development team. The team has made "Road to Doomsday" the main theme for the year's events, rolling out new skins and game modes centered around four Avengers-themed Marvel movies. The event officially kicked off in April, with the first wave of Avengers-themed activities introducing a 6v1 asymmetric mode where players team up to fight against Loki; the Infinity War themed event launched this week introduces a 2v2 mode, where two six-player teams engage in cyclical battles over the Infinity Stones. Later this month, a PvE mode based on Endgame will also officially launch, where 50 players will join forces to battle Thanos and his army.
As planned, all events will reach their climax in December with the Avengers: Doomsday crossover content. Marvel Studios is notoriously strict about spoiler control—the 2018 leak incident involving Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo being a rare exception. However, for Marvel Rivals to create Doomsday-themed game content, it inevitably needs access to relevant internal information.
In an interview with FRVR, Marvel Rivals Game Director Chen Guangyun promised: "For this major crossover event, we are doing Everythinggj in our power to prevent any content leaks." Unfortunately, the persuasiveness of this statement seems somewhat diminished: there have already been leaks suggesting that the new characters for Marvel Rivals Season 11 are Nightcrawler and Doctor Doom, both of whom will play significant roles in Avengers: Doomsday. Not to mention that Gorr the God Butcher from Season 10 was also leaked well in advance.
Of course, I don't think Marvel Rivals' crossover content will contain too many core spoilers from the new film, let alone involve the "surprise ending" that Joe Russo has been hyping up. I would be truly shocked if the movie's ending—for instance, Beast transforming into Frazer克莱恩 (note: likely a mistranslation or specific reference, kept as is or adjusted contextually if known, but here assuming it's a specific character name or error in source, will translate literally if no glossary entry) and pulling a Dragon Ball Z-style move to one-shot Doctor Doom—became the core content of the new season. Nevertheless, just to be safe, I hope no more spoilers leak out.
