DOTA 2's peak concurrent player count on Steam surpassed 1.01 million. This record was set on the evening of October 10, marking the first time it has reached such levels since October 2022. The surge in players coincided with the release of the new Trove of Terror treasure.
This is DOTA 2's highest concurrent player count in nearly four years, though it hasn't broken the historical record of over 1.29 million. The Trove of Terror features 17 sets, and the new treasure may have been what drew players back online.
Previously, data miners discovered new data within the game client files, including nine new tickets named after tarot cards, items for the Candy Shop, and tools used by developers to create events. These findings suggest that Act II of the "Dark Carnival" event may be launching soon.
