Recent reports indicate that Activision issued DMCA takedown requests for two unofficial browser-based Call of Duty projects. Developer Luckey Faraday stated that the relevant posts have been removed and both projects have been taken offline.
One of the titles recreates the multiplayer experience of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, allowing players to engage in free-for-all battles against six AI opponents on the Hijacked and Nuketown 2025 maps. The other is a browser-based version of the Kino der Toten Zombies mode, playable in single-player.
Both projects run on Three.js. Their project pages label them as non-commercial fan works and note that the maps, models, and animations are sourced from the original PC games.
No public takedown notice is available, so the specific rights claims made by Activision cannot be confirmed. As of the original report, Activision had not commented on the matter.
