Nintendo explained why its game prices vary: each title is evaluated individually, with factors like content and development costs taken into consideration. The pricing of physical editions is also affected by rising cartridge and chip costs.
Bill van Zyll, Vice President and General Manager of Nintendo Latin America, stated that when evaluating a game's price, factors such as the content and value offered, the expected playtime for players, the game's complexity, and development costs are taken into account. Price examples mentioned include $40, $50, and $80, but these figures were not specifically tied to any particular games.
Regarding the price difference between physical and digital editions, Bill van Zyll pointed out that rising cartridge and chip costs impact the pricing of physical products. While digital distribution may save on some costs, whether these savings are reflected in the retail price depends on pricing decisions. A $10 price difference between the two versions is possible.
