Azimuth, an unofficial project developed by Almost There Games, enables the Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2 to run on Windows PCs and supports Steam Deck via Proton. The project provides a launcher but does not include game files; users must own a compatible copy of the game themselves.
The launcher offers Low, Default, and High graphics presets, with options to run at 30 or 60 FPS. Resolution starts at 720p and can be increased depending on the display device. For Steam Deck, the developer states the game runs at approximately 60 FPS at 720p and 30 FPS at 1080p.
The project currently focuses on the single-player campaign, allowing players to buy cars, participate in championships, and explore maps of southern France and northern Italy. Online modes, Xbox Live achievements, and leaderboards are unavailable, as the official game servers were shut down in 2023.
Azimuth is still in pre-release development. Recent updates have fixed several issues with car purchases, liveries, and photo mode. The developers plan to add HDR, Ultra graphics presets, higher frame rates, performance optimizations, and support for additional content such as Forza Horizon 2: Storm Island in the future.
