Renowned leaker Dusk Golem revealed that Capcom is putting more effort into DLC. The reason is that there may be a period without new mainline entries in the Resident Evil series, and DLC can keep players engaged during this time. In other words, while waiting for the mainline Resident Evil 10, Capcom wants players to enjoy the DLC for Resident Evil 9 and Resident Evil: Veronica.

Capcom is currently fully focused on developing Resident Evil: Veronica, the remake of the spin-off Code: Veronica. Reportedly, the game was recently delayed, and Capcom seems to still be planning post-launch content for it.

He explained that Capcom approved this DLC to continue providing Resident Evil series content to fans, as the pace of new releases may slow down following the remake of Code: Veronica.

Over the past few years, Capcom has consistently released Resident Evil titles, but the development team may now be considering slowing down. Reportedly, this is also why DLC is being developed for Resident Evil 9: Requiem. That expansion is expected to launch in early 2027, while Resident Evil: Veronica is slated for release sometime in 2027.

Dusk Golem predicts that each of these DLCs will offer several hours of gameplay. We'll have to wait for further news on what content Capcom will create for these two games. Capcom seems increasingly willing to release post-launch content for its titles, but whether this will become a standard practice for the Resident Evil series remains uncertain.
