Mick Gordon, who composed the music for 2016's Doom and Doom Eternal, stated that he would be willing to return to the Doom series immediately if certain conditions are met. In an interview at PAX Australia, he did not specify what those conditions were, nor did he announce any involvement in a new title or collaboration with the development team.
Following the release of Doom Eternal, Gordon publicly clashed with the development team. In 2022, he posted accusations that id Software had failed to pay him for some of his soundtrack work and criticized executive producer Marty Stratton's conduct during their collaboration. These were the allegations Gordon made at the time, and there is no clear information on whether the dispute has been resolved.
Gordon also mentioned that he has many ideas for the direction of the Doom series' music that he hopes to explore someday. Currently, he is working on the theme music for the final boss battle in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2.
He also plans to perform music he composed for the two Doom titles with a live band at the UK's RADAR Festival in 2027.
