Activision Demands Takedown of Two Unofficial Call of Duty: Black Ops II Browser Projects, Both Now Offline

Activision issued DMCA-based takedown requests against two unofficial Call of Duty browser projects created by developer Luckey Faraday, and both projects are currently inaccessible. Faraday stated that related social media posts were also removed.

One of the projects remastered the multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, allowing players to freely battle against six bots on the Hijacked and Nuketown 2025 maps. The other project offers a single-player version of the series' Zombies map, Kino der Toten. Both projects were developed using the Three.js framework, and the developers have stated that they have no official affiliation with Activision, Treyarch, Microsoft, or Anthropic.

The pages for both projects acknowledge that the maps, models, and animations were taken directly from the original PC game. The use of original assets may be the reason for the takedown requests, but this assumption has not been confirmed by any official notice. Activision has not publicly explained its actions so far, and the full text of the takedown notices has not been released; specific legal claims remain subject to official documentation.
