It remains unconfirmed whether Josh Brolin will reprise his role as Cable in a potential Deadpool 4. Rob Liefeld, co-creator of Cable and Deadpool, stated that he does not know what decision Brolin will ultimately make.
Brolin first portrayed Cable in 2018's Deadpool 2. The time-traveling mutant did not appear in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine.
In an interview with The Direct, Liefeld stated that he would be happy to see Brolin reprise his role as Cable and praised his previous performance. He believes that while Brolin has other projects to choose from and playing Cable again might not be his top priority, the character still has stories left to tell.
Previous reports suggested that Ryan Reynolds wanted Cable, Wolverine, and Storm to share the screen in the fourth installment. Brolin has also expressed interest in reprising his role as Cable in the past, but there is currently no confirmation that he has decided to return.
