Anita Mui's Ashes Stolen; Police Report Filed. Pan Xiaowen States Mui's Mother Was Unaware Until Her Death

After the theft of Anita Mui's ashes, Pan Xiaowen stated on his personal online show "Entertainment Little Nanny" that Anita Mui's mother remained unaware of the incident until her passing. The Anita Mui International Fan Club previously announced that members discovered the theft while visiting the Haihui Pagoda at Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island to pay their respects on July 18, and subsequently reported it to the police.

Pan Xiaowen said that friends and family decided not to inform Anita Mui's mother about this distressing matter due to her memory and cognitive condition in her later years. He described that while she could recognize acquaintances and respond, her ability to comprehend complex events was limited.

The location where Anita Mui's ashes were interred was originally kept secret and was not revealed until 2015. Her niche is located in the Haihui Pagoda at Po Lin Monastery, with no portrait displayed, and the epitaph uses her childhood nickname "Zhu Nu." There are also reports that Anita Mui's mother was dissatisfied with the public disclosure of the niche location, wishing to preserve a quiet, private space for her daughter.

The fan club announced the theft of the ashes on October 10 and appealed to the public for any clues. As of the time of reporting, the ashes have not yet been recovered.
