The physical Year One Edition of Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is expected to launch on November 3, 2026. The game's second-year content will introduce a Duel Mode for one-on-one player races, with the physical edition's release likely coinciding with the start of the second year.
The Year One Edition builds upon the Digital Deluxe Edition, including characters from Sonic Prime and downloadable content from the first Season Pass. These are included in the physical edition and are separate from the Duel Mode added in the second year.
In Duel Mode, item usage and the new "Duel Boost" mechanic will impact the race. The gauge fills over time and with frequent item use, granting a significant speed boost when activated. Players can also view their opponent's held items, devices, and position on the track to plan their offense and defense.
This mode supports offline races against AI-controlled characters, with rewards such as special machines available after defeating all opponents. Online features include random matchmaking and limited-time ten-race events with special rules, duel ranks, and medal rewards.
