In a recent letter to shareholders, Warner Bros. stated that as its product lineup expands, titles currently in development, including Hogwarts Legacy 2, are expected to make significant contributions to the profitability of its gaming division. This reflects the company's expectations for future performance; the actual sales and profitability of the sequel will only be clear after its release.
Warner Bros. Games plans to concentrate its resources on a select group of intellectual properties it considers worth $1 billion each, including the Harry Potter series. Hogwarts Legacy 2 is also a key title in its gaming business development strategy.
The previous title, Hogwarts Legacy, was released in 2023 and has sold over 40 million copies, generating more than $2 billion in revenue. The success of the first game provides a favorable backdrop for Warner Bros.' optimism about the sequel, but whether the follow-up can achieve similar performance remains uncertain.
