A ComicBook review suggests that Vision, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch better embody the team narrative of the comic compared to Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor, who are often seen as the iconic trio of The Avengers. This reflects the author's perspective on the comic's storytelling, not an official ranking of character status by Marvel Comics.
The author points out that Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor have long been key figures in the team, each with their own distinct solo series. In contrast, many of Vision, Hawkeye, and Scarlet Witch's pivotal experiences occurred directly within the Avengers team, making them better suited for discussing what it means to "become an Avenger."
Vision was originally created by Ultron to fight against the Avengers but later broke free from this purpose and joined the team. After joining, Scarlet Witch experienced changes in her intimate relationships, powers, and personal circumstances within the team. Hawkeye evolved from a young member who frequently questioned Captain America's orders into a leader capable of heading the West Coast Avengers.
In the author's view, these three characters' journeys illustrate how the Avengers team accepts and transforms its members, as well as how the team bears the consequences of their choices.
