Nicolas Cage discussed his plans to return to television at New York Comic Con, stating that he "might" appear in a season of the HBO series "True Detective." There had been prior rumors about him joining Season 5 of "True Detective," but Cage's wording this time left room for uncertainty.
Cage later mentioned that he seemed to be the first to publicly reveal this information. It remains unclear whether he will officially appear in Season 5, and no details about his potential role have been announced.
The previous season of "True Detective," titled "Night Country," starred Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. Creator Issa López has been confirmed to return for Season 5. López previously stated that the new season would have significant connections to the events and characters from the Alaska-based Ennis storyline in the previous season.
Season 5 is set in Jamaica Bay, New York, and is scheduled for release in 2027. The specific air date and other cast members have not yet been announced.
