Yahoo! Auctions and Flea Market Ban Sales of Pokémon Card Boxes, Empty Boxes, and Empty Packs

Yahoo! Auctions and Yahoo! Flea Market will adjust their listing rules for Pokémon Trading Card Game products, prohibiting the sale of sealed boxes as well as empty boxes and empty booster packs. Mass listings of the same item after its release will also be restricted. LINE Yahoo announced this measure on October 13, 2026, applying it to both the "Yahoo! Auctions" and "Yahoo! Flea Market" platforms.

The ban on listing sealed boxes is primarily intended to curb hoarding and resale activities. The prohibition on empty boxes and empty booster packs addresses another risk: these empty packages could be used for resealing to fraudulently pass off as unopened products. The platform stated that it will remove any violating listings upon discovery and has requested existing sellers of such items to voluntarily take them down. The ban on empty packaging applies to all trading card games, not just Pokémon cards.

Restrictions on mass listings following a product's release will apply starting with "Pokémon Card Game 30th CELEBRATION." LINE Yahoo had previously signed a memorandum of understanding with The Pokémon Company to share information on new product releases and infringing items. This rule adjustment is a further step within the existing cooperation framework, aimed at creating a more secure trading environment for users.
