The Fallout 4 mod "Detour" adds a town built on a broken overpass. It features over ten voiced characters with a combined total of more than 600 lines of dialogue. Players can trade, rent rooms to rest, look for quests, and purchase houses in the town.
This settlement is located near the Bedford Station marker on the map, not far from Sanctuary Hills, which players encounter early in the game. The mod author envisioned it as a quest hub for travelers. Town residents include a ghoul sheriff, a mayor, and Randy, a thief locked in a cell, each tied to potential quests or interactions.
The development team drew inspiration from Arefu in Fallout 3 and Roadside Pines from the "Burning Springs" update in Fallout 76. The team has previously worked on other quest mods for Fallout 4 and stated plans to gradually add more content to "Detour."
Installing "Detour" requires the Fallout 4: Nuka-World expansion. The mod also offers an optional compatibility patch for the "Reputation" mod.
