Released in 2019, Triple Frontier was co-written and directed by J.C. Chandor. It follows a group of former U.S. Special Forces operatives who travel to Colombia to hunt down a drug lord and attempt to seize his cash. The film stars Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam, Oscar Isaac, Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal.

In 2023, Hunnam revealed that he had joined the sequel as a lead producer, while cautioning that the project was still in its early stages. Hedlund's recent comments confirmed that a draft of the script had existed, but he provided no information regarding approval for production or the start of filming.
