The Unworthy, a first-person psychological horror game developed by Meetkow, is scheduled for release on Steam in late spring 2027. The development team responded on X to a negative review that called the demo "too scary," suggesting this might be the highest compliment a horror game can receive. The game draws inspiration from a man's claim of having entered hell during a near-death experience.
Players will awaken between life and hell, evading threats in the darkness while striving to prove they deserve to survive. Depending on the threat, players may need to remain still, avoid making noise, or confront enemies head-on. Some events and encounters occur randomly.
The developers also plan to introduce a mode focused on oppressive spaces and atmospheric sound. This mode will remove enemies and jump scares, allowing players to experience the game's horror ambiance in a different way.
The Steam demo for The Unworthy has been available since August 2026 and received a major update on October 8, which adjusted visual presentation, added new areas, and improved enemy AI. At the time, the demo had 204 reviews, with 91% being positive.
