Razer has released the new Basilisk V4 Pro gaming mouse. The new model retains the Basilisk series' design direction, while updating the sensor, scroll wheel, and wireless connectivity. It also adds an extra button on the left side, bringing the total number of side buttons to four. The mouse features a one-click 180-degree turn function, a capability long considered cheating by online competitive players.
A player can bind this to a mouse button in Razer Synapse, allowing them to instantly rotate their view in any direction with a single click, with settings customizable for different games. Razer positions this as a competitive advantage for low-sensitivity FPS players.
If you've played any competitive shooter, you understand the issues a button that lets you instantly turn 180 degrees to aim at enemies faster could cause. In fact, players have debated this issue for years; people have been using macros for this purpose, but Razer has now formalized it with a mouse. Many forums for various FPS games are currently debating whether this feature constitutes cheating.
