A new demo for the dark comedy visual novel "Come to My Birthday Party!" will be released on October 16. Featuring adorable characters, the game is developed by indie creator SIMSANG YOON and published by LINE Games. This release showcases Demo 2.0, polished based on player feedback, with improvements to story presentation and dialogue, as well as adjustments to mini-game difficulty and usability.
Set in South Korea in 1999, the game follows Ji-min, a 10-year-old girl. Accustomed to being overlooked between her high-achieving older sister and favored younger brother, she sees a chance to shine when her mother promises to throw her first-ever birthday party if she becomes class president. Thus begins Ji-min's campaign to win over her classmates and navigate the murky waters of classroom politics. The story features multiple endings, with player choices shaping Ji-min's relationships and leading to one of 12 different outcomes.
In terms of character development, each classmate has their own personality and hidden backstory. From shy Eun-ji to the mysterious Dae-eun, players will gradually uncover these characters' pasts as the plot unfolds. The game recreates the late '90s school atmosphere with refined pixel art, tackling heavier emotional themes like family pressure and school bullying through a lens of dark humor. The full release is scheduled for Q1 2027, and Demo 2.0 will be available during Steam Next Fest from October 19 to 26.
