This new Castlevania title is developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, known for their work on Dead Cells, and published by Konami Digital Entertainment. Set in Paris in 1499, which has been overrun by monsters, players control Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont. In addition to using the series' iconic whip, she can wield various weapons and seal defeated bosses into Tarot cards, borrowing their powers as "Arcana."

Among the collected reviews, Region Free gave it a perfect 100, considering it one of the best entries in the series; Atomix awarded 95, praising the efforts of the development team and Konami. True Gaming gave it 90, commending the art style, whip-based movement mechanics, diverse weapons and abilities, and the gameplay variations introduced by Arcana cards.

SpazioGames gave it an 80, evaluating the series' return to 2D. Push Square awarded it a 70, noting that while the game has many strengths, it doesn't stand out enough among the many similar titles available today. Overall, the art design and the polished Metroidvania gameplay have received considerable praise, though some critics pointed out inconvenient save point locations and slightly sluggish controls.
