New Switch 2 Official Video: Battery Replacement Is Now Easier

The latest version of the Nintendo Switch 2 greatly simplifies the battery replacement process. Nintendo's official guide is now available, allowing users to easily replace the battery without special tools or professional technical knowledge.

The Nintendo Switch 2 (priced at $499 on Amazon) recently launched with a new version that makes battery replacement more convenient. This change was made to comply with relevant EU regulations. For consumers, this means they can easily replace the battery themselves when the console's battery life decreases after several years of use.

Nintendo has now released an official guide detailing how to easily replace the battery in the new Switch 2. According to Nintendo, all you need is a Phillips-head screwdriver and a replacement battery model BEE-003(-01), both of which will be sold as a replacement parts kit in the future. To open the console, you need to remove a total of nine screws—two on the left, two on the right, two on the bottom, two on the back, and one on the top. After that, the back cover can be easily removed.

The battery can be easily taken out of the battery compartment—since it uses metal contacts instead of a plug-in connection, there is no need to disconnect any cables. A clever design feature is that the console prevents the new battery from being accidentally installed backwards. This completely adhesive-free design significantly reduces the risk of damaging the console during battery replacement. Nintendo recommends taking this opportunity to check that the top buttons and microphone are correctly positioned and that no screws are stuck to the magnets before reassembling the console.
