In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ben Affleck recalled that after first becoming famous, he barely left his house for about three years, choosing to play StarCraft at home instead of attending Hollywood parties. He still plays Valorant today, but says he is often outmatched by younger players who have been playing such games since childhood.
Affleck also mentioned that he enjoys Doom, Quake, and Myst. While he and Matt Damon were writing the screenplay for Good Will Hunting, the two would sometimes pause their work to play Doom.
He has had similar competitive experiences in Fortnite, sometimes even arguing with younger players who mocked him over voice chat. The various combinations of character skins in Fortnite once inspired his costume designs for the movie Animals.
Besides online games, Affleck also plays NBA 2K with his 14-year-old son, though his son often wins. He still keeps a Ms. Pac-Man arcade cabinet at home.
