Sony has announced a Midnight Black PS5 Digital Edition for the Japanese market, priced at 55,000 yen (approximately $350). The console will be released on November 19, 2026, with pre-orders opening on October 20.
The new console comes with black faceplates and a matching black controller. Sony also offers a same-color external disc drive, which can be purchased separately by players who wish to use physical discs.
This console is part of a product line labeled "Japan Only." To use it, the region must be set to Japan and the system language to Japanese; overseas buyers should take these requirements into consideration before purchasing.
November 19 also coincides with the planned release date for GTA VI. However, Sony's official announcement did not mention this title, instead linking the new console launch to the sixth anniversary of the original PS5's release.
