Smilegate has announced that Season 5 of the Galactic Disaster in Chaos Dreams, titled "Promise in the Snow," will begin on October 21, with the first multiplayer mode, "Joint Operations - Core Breakthrough," planned for a December release. Chapter 0 of the new season was released early with the September 30 update.
The new story takes place on the polar planet Nivalis. After the massive ark "Frontier Nova," used for planetary colonization, crashed, multiple "Chaos" anomalies appeared inside, forming a domain known as the "Celestial Barrier." Players will face mechanical guardian angels and humanoid fallen angels within, challenging the Judgment Agents who act on behalf of Diaros's will in the depths. The season's narrative will gradually explore the relationship between the gods and Chaos, as well as the gods' objectives.
Gameplay details for the new combatant Roswitha and her partner Sieg have also been revealed. Roswitha's mechanics revolve around a light and dark cycle: special cards split into "Light" and "Dark" versions upon entering the hand, triggering effects when played alongside teammates and merging to unleash attacks when conditions are met. Sieg's abilities are designed to synergize with hers. Upcoming combatant Blaze Bell uses fire powers to support allies, while Dalia can combine cards with different effects.
To coincide with the game's first anniversary, a "Nightmare Festival" themed park event will be held. Players can build facilities, accumulate profits, and claim progression rewards during the event.
The "Joint Operations - Core Breakthrough" mode, scheduled to open in December, allows two players to team up via friend invites or random matchmaking to defeat monsters and challenge bosses. This mode will also introduce mechanics that alter certain rules during combat, as well as "Joint Tactics" where both players choose effects together.
