Port of Jumanah Director Discusses Arabian Pearl Diving Inspiration and Short Dive Mechanics! Plans to Adjust Gold Acquisition

Jumana Port Game Director Shandhi Sayogo discussed the game's Arabian pearl-diving inspiration and short "dive" design, noting that the team plans to adjust gold acquisition based on player feedback. The game launched on PC and PS5 on September 8. It is a 2.5D light roguelike action game developed by Red Dunes Games and Agate.

Players take on the role of Mansour, a young man who explores different seas, battles underwater enemies, and unlocks abilities and gear by completing quests to access more challenging areas. Sayogo explained that the team wanted newcomers to find it easy to get started while still offering challenges for those familiar with light roguelikes, which is why each dive is kept relatively short.

The game's pearl-diving theme draws from Arabian pearl-diving traditions. Sayogo stated that the team aimed to create a similar game more oriented toward casual players; the creative director's pearl-diving theme, combined with a cute visual style, set the direction for the title. He also mentioned that Cult of the Lamb had a significant influence on the game's visual presentation and some of its lighter roguelike elements.

Looking back on development, Sayogo said the team began production around May 2025, then spent about three to four months preparing a playable version for Tokyo Game Show 2025, ultimately showcasing the combat portion.

Regarding post-launch feedback, Sayogo said most responses were positive while acknowledging some minor issues. The team plans to prioritize fixing these problems and will make adjustments in response to player comments about gold being difficult to collect. Currently, the game has full Japanese language support, and a demo is available on Steam.
