The 2027 Lunar New Year film "The Story of That Turtle" held its opening ceremony on October 14. The film is adapted from the stage play "The Story of That Turtle's Return," invested in and produced by Andy Lau, directed by Herman Yau, with the original cast participating in the film version.
Stage play members including Yuen Siu Yee, Yang Leman, Leung Chung Hang, Wang Yaozu, Yuen Wan Shan, Ngai Ping Long, and Hu Liying attended the opening ceremony, with the newly added turtle "Xiao Lu" also making an appearance on site.
Andy Lau said that he previously watched the stage play as an audience member and had the idea to adapt it into a film halfway through, asking the team for licensing rights shortly after the performance ended. Discussing the cast, he jokingly claimed that "Xiao Lu" was the highest-paid member of the entire film; regarding whether he would make a cameo appearance, he did not give a definite answer. Yuen Siu Yee stated that the film is an ensemble piece, with relatively balanced screen time for each character.
