Phantom Blade Zero's Fast-Paced Combat and Interconnected World Design Draw Comparisons from Foreign Media

Recently, the foreign media outlet Comicbook published an article comparing "Phantom Blade Zero" with five action games, covering aspects such as combat pacing, scene transitions, and presentation style. The mediabelieves that the fusion of multiple inspirations makes this title one of the most anticipated games of 2026.

Regarding combat, the author believes that the high-speed action demonstrated in "Phantom Blade Zero" is reminiscent of "Ninja Gaiden." The article also mentions that the developers have listed "Ninja Gaiden 2" as one of their personal favorites; however, the author has not yet made a definitive judgment on how precise inputs and combo depth will be reflected in the new title.

In terms of world design, the development team aims to connect areas naturally and encourage player exploration. Based on this, the article compares this goal to the interconnected maps of "Dark Souls," and references the fast travel and aggressive pacing of "Bloodborne" to illustrate similarities observed in the current demonstrations.

The article also uses "Sifu"'s close-quarters combat as a reference, focusing on the process of adapting to changes during battle, but explicitly states that it remains uncertain how these influences will ultimately be presented in terms of mechanics. Regarding presentation, the author compares the exaggerated actions and boss battle aesthetics to "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance," and cites "Devil May Cry" to explain the fluidity brought by combos, weapons, and combat tool switching.
