A media outlet tested the console versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition and found that the PS5 Pro currently delivers the best performance. The tests covered PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with the game updated to patch 5.01 released after launch.
Patch 5.01 improved frame rates across platforms, making busy scenes and technically demanding cutscenes smoother than before. However, the test still observed minor frame drops; screen tearing may still occur if a variable refresh rate display is not used.
The test also noted that overly strong bloom effects can reduce the clarity of environmental details. The patch allows console players to lower bloom intensity. Crashes were encountered during testing, but it remains unclear whether the test included the hotfix previously released to address crashes on Sony platforms.
On the PS5 Pro, Performance Mode typically reaches 80–90 FPS on a 120Hz display; Ray Tracing Mode runs at 60 FPS with richer visual effects. Static images in Ray Tracing Mode can appear slightly softer than on the base PS5, a difference the test attributed to PSSR upscaling and changes in native resolution; during actual camera movement, the difference is barely noticeable.
