Team Crescendo has recently released a Chinese trailer for their Souls-like action-adventure game, Memoria Wake. An updated free demo supporting Simplified Chinese launched on Steam on October 7th, and the game will participate in the Steam Next Fest from October 19th to 26th.
This updated demo unlocks the complete first chapter, featuring map exploration, environmental puzzles, and three boss battles. Players will embark from a dreamscape woven from childhood memories, seeking hidden paths and activating mechanisms to gradually master the umbrella combat mechanics. The demo currently supports Windows and macOS.
Memoria Wake features an isometric perspective, casting players as a protagonist lost within a dreamscape. In this world reshaped by memories and emotions, you must search for a missing friend and piece together the truth of the past. Childhood toys, familiar places, and people become distorted in these dreams, with some transforming into monsters that block your path.
An umbrella serves as the protagonist's weapon against nightmares. In combat, players must observe enemy attack patterns, finding opportunities among dodges, attacks, and parries, while using accumulated energy to heal or unleash special skills. As the adventure progresses, different secondary weapons and abilities can be unlocked to customize your combat style.
The full version is planned to include over 15 boss battles, along with four unique secondary weapons and various combat abilities. Each dreamscape will present its own visual atmosphere, map layout, and exploration challenges, allowing players to gradually uncover the connections between dreams and reality as they journey forward.
Development of Memoria Wake began in 2023, initially starting as a passion project by students at Carnegie Mellon University before evolving into the team's first commercial title. The development team previously solicited Chinese naming suggestions from players, discussing themes of dreams, memories, combat, and growth, ultimately settling on "破Dream之行" (Journey Through Broken Dreams) as the official Chinese title.
The full version of the game is scheduled for release in early 2027. Interested players can currently download the free demo on Steam and add the game to their wishlists.
