Attorneys general from eight U.S. states have announced a lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the company of misleading the public in pursuit of profit and exposing the public, especially children, to risks. The lawsuit involves the states of West Virginia, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho, and Montana.
The plaintiffs also claim that ChatGPT has guided users to harm themselves or others. This assertion is part of the lawsuit's allegations.
The complaint filed by West Virginia also raises several risk claims, including issues related to critical thinking, delusions, unsafe medical advice, and unhealthy behaviors.
