505 Pulse and Avantgarden announce that Among the Trolls, a first-person adventure game inspired by Finnish mythology and folklore, is now officially available on Steam. Players will delve into the remote forests of Finland, where missing family members, primal nature, and ancient legends guide them to unravel mysteries hidden deep within the woods.
Set against a breathtaking wilderness of deep forests and unseen mystical creatures, the game follows Anna as she travels from the US to her grandfather's remote cabin in Finland, only to find him missing. What begins as an emotional search gradually evolves into a profound journey through a vibrant natural landscape filled with memories, myths, and meaning.
Rooted in Finnish folklore, Among the Trolls offers a rich, experiential narrative combining exploration and survival, guiding players to piece together Anna's family history and uncover the truth behind her grandfather's disappearance. "Our goal has always been to create a world where the forest feels mysterious, ancient, and alive," said Giorgio Macellari, Creative Director at Avantgarden. The original soundtrack, composed by award-winning composer Daniele Carmosino, further shapes the game's atmosphere. The music blends piano, cello, strings, analog synthesizers, and vocals, reflecting Anna's loss and isolation while transforming acoustic instruments into increasingly unfamiliar tones. This contrast is also evident in the theme song "Endless Exile," performed by Maria Chiara Argirò, whose smoky, psychedelic hip-hop-infused voice adds a deeper, more modern touch to the soundtrack.
