Two developers have released a first-person platformer titled "Refund This Game," setting the frequently discussed two-hour playtime limit from Steam's refund policy as the completion goal. Players need to climb upward before the countdown ends, with the game screen continuously displaying the remaining time.
While climbing, players must use a pole that can attach to walls, bending and launching themselves upward. Mistakes can result in significant falls, and the game has only one checkpoint. Steam achievements specifically reward players who complete the game within two hours.
In the store description, the developer encourages players to attempt a refund after successfully completing the challenge, provided they still meet the refund criteria at that time. Co-developer dofhouse stated that discussions surrounding Steam's refund policy this summer were a major inspiration for the game; the team supports players' right to refunds and hopes players can try the work without burden.
Previously, developer Mateo Covic expressed dissatisfaction with the refund time limit, sparking discussions among players and developers. He stated that he also supports refunds but believes the rules could be exploited. Some early Steam reviews show that players have already completed the challenge within the time limit. The game is priced at $5, with a promotional price of $4 at the time of publication; actual prices and refund eligibility are subject to the information on the page at the time of purchase.
