Tyler Bahl, Chief Marketing Officer at Activision, believes that the release of GTA 6 could bring additional attention to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. With both games scheduled to launch within less than a month of each other, he predicts that the former will prompt more people to turn on their Xbox or PlayStation consoles and spark more conversations about gaming.
In an interview with The Game Business, Bahl regarded these two titles as the most anticipated games of the year. He also mentioned the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2. The ranking of anticipation levels reflects his personal assessment.
Bahl also stated that Activision's research shows players value not only the shooting mechanics when discussing Call of Duty, but also the time spent with friends. Therefore, he believes that even with GTA 6 launching a few weeks later, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III still has its own compelling reasons to play.
Pre-order customers can unlock the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III campaign on October 16; the full game, including Campaign, DMZ, and Multiplayer modes, will launch on October 23. GTA 6 is scheduled to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, just 27 days after the full launch of the former.
