Digital Lighthouse Games has announced "Encrypted," a first-person psychological horror adventure game scheduled for release in 2027 on PC via Steam. Players will assume the role of Leonardo, searching for his missing daughter Arianna as wildfires sweep through Southern Italy.
The wildfire was triggered by climate disaster. Clues to finding Arianna lead Leonardo to Matera and further into the underground spaces deep within the town. Players must traverse streets emptied by the approaching fires; places once filled with residents and tourists.
The game combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and stealth. Players can search for leftover documents and identify words from damaged audio recordings. These materials point to multiple stories related to Arianna. Leonardo's ex-wife, Sophia, still answers his calls, and the narrative unfolds through cinematic scenes and fully voiced dialogue.
About This Game
"Encrypted" is a first-person psychological horror adventure game with a strong cinematic feel, set in Southern Italy amidst rampant climate disasters. A father arrives in Matera to search for his missing daughter. Once one of humanity's oldest settlements, the area has now been evacuated, yet something awaits him in the dark underground. The game blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and stealth elements.
Leave no clue behind
You are Leonardo, searching for your missing daughter, Arianna. Catastrophic wildfires have swept through Southern Italy, leading you to follow clues to the ancient city of Matera, and then deeper underground.
Streets once bustling with tourists are now empty as the wildfire approaches. Walk through them, search diligently, piece together forgotten documents, and pay attention to fragments from damaged recordings. More than one story awaits discovery, and each one is connected to Arianna. Only your ex-wife Sophia still answers your calls. Everythinggj unfolds gradually through cinematic performances and fully voiced dialogue.
Don't stop, stay quiet
Shadowy figures roam everywhere, hunting by sound. Even accidentally stepping into a puddle or pulling a lever is enough for them to pinpoint your location. Staying quiet is usually the best strategy, but you can also choose to confront them... if you have the means to do so. But they are not the only threat: the wildfire is close at hand, and sometimes even the air becomes unbreathable. There are many ways to die here.
Explore beneath the surface
Explore abandoned cities, suburbs engulfed in flames, and caverns beneath the streets. The game's environments are based on real locations, recreated using the development team's proprietary 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry technology to faithfully reproduce the architecture and landscapes of Matera and Southern Italy. Carefully observe Everythinggj hidden within the scenes: puzzles rooted in ancient secrets or ordinary objects.
Everythinggj in the "palm" of your hand
Your smartwatch not only tracks your inventory, read documents, and current objectives, but also monitors your heart rate, blood oxygen levels, steps taken, and remaining battery life. You carry a flashlight to illuminate the darkness, a noise detector to help you stay quiet, and a strange artifact whose purpose remains unclear. Collect all items along the way to unlock "New Game+": a more challenging second playthrough that is the only way to decipher the complete truth.
