The massive advertisement for GTA 6 on the Les Mercuriales building in Paris retains the main composition of the game's cover art, but two instances featuring firearms have been altered. With the game set to launch on PS5 and Xbox platforms on November 19, related promotional materials have appeared in various cities.
Over the past two weeks, individuals have been documenting the installation process of this advertisement online. Once completed, players compared it to the original cover art and noticed a change in the central upper image featuring Lucia and Jason: while Lucia holds a gun in the original artwork, the Paris advertisement removes both the gun and her hand holding it.
Another change is located at the bottom center of the image. In the original artwork, a character has an assault rifle in front of them; in the Paris advertisement, the character is shown with their hands raised, and the gun is no longer present. Both changes are subtle and require comparison with the original artwork to be easily noticed.
Kotaku speculates that the alterations may be related to the building owner's stance on displaying firearm imagery on the facade, or possibly local advertising restrictions, though there has been no confirmation from the building management or regulatory authorities. Similar promotional artworks in New York and other locations still retain the firearms, indicating that the changes in the Paris advertisement are not a uniform version adopted across all regions.
