The 2026 League of Legends World Championship has begun. On the first day of the Play-In Stage, Vietnamese team MVK defeated Brazilian representatives FUR 3-0; European team KC faced North American team C9 in a full five-game series, ultimately winning 3-2.
As the third seed from the LCP (League of Legends Championship Pacific), MVK didn't have an easy start in their first game. FUR secured a solo kill top lane, then took down MVK's mid and jungle before securing Baron Nashor. MVK weathered the push, secured their second Baron, and seized the opportunity to win the opening game.
In Game 2, MVK expanded their lead through early skirmishes and teamfight victories; in Game 3, they suppressed FUR from the early game onwards, securing three consecutive wins.
In another match, KC and C9 were tied 1-1 after two games. C9 won the third game to reach match point first, but KC secured the Dragon Soul and Baron Nashor in the fourth game to tie the score. In the decisive fifth game, KC secured Baron Nashor around the 21-minute mark and gradually widened their gold lead to win the series.
According to the scheduled bracket, MVK and KC, who won on the first day, will face each other in the next round, while C9 will play against FUR.
