The demo for Misty Veil, a hand-painted narrative-driven adventure RPG developed by Wolf Smoke Animation Studio, is now available on Steam and will participate in upcoming Steam Next Fest events. To save his sister poisoned by the mist, protagonist Ya Qing travels to Yin Town seeking medical help. Along the way, he assists townsfolk with their troubles, witnessing family control, societal prejudice, and unresolved pasts, gradually uncovering the deep rift between two ethnic groups...
In the wild mountains, toxic insect fog permeates the air; inhaling it leads to death or severe injury. Ya Qing's sister accidentally breathed in the fog in the forest and is now critically ill, beyond the help of even the village shaman. Carrying his sister on his back, he travels by bamboo raft to the mysterious town of Yin Town, becoming an apprentice to Yin Tianshui, a physician who uses insects as medicine. In this town, some teach you how to catch insects and gather resources, while others shield you from cold stares. Medical remedies made from insects, herbs, and minerals can cure physical ailments, but not the sickness of the heart. The more Ya Qing learns, the more he realizes his sister's condition is far from simple.
Wander around town and meet over 120 vibrant characters, hearing local gossip and stories from them. With 350,000 words of storyline and more than 20 side quests, the narrative unfolds gradually in a web-like structure. It reveals unspeakable hardships and little-known family tragedies: an elderly bedridden person seeking their unfilial child, anxious parents searching for their missing child, a young woman trapped by familial prejudice longing for a way out...
