Build a new Rome, a greater Rome, and preferably, a Rome without plague.
Publisher Hooded Horse and developer Lion Shield have announced another major update for their Roman-themed city-builder, Nova Roma. Deadly plagues, new gods to appease, and exciting new mechanics await. Continue expanding your city on lands far removed from the Empire's corrupt rule.
This major update for Nova Roma brings Apollo into the growing pantheon, helping people cope with the threats of disease and plague. As the god of medicine and healing, Apollo will issue health-related demands; fulfilling these requests earns his Favor. Players can spend this Favor to convert Apollo's temple into a sanctuary dedicated to his son, Asclepius, allowing citizens to seek divine healing in times of crisis.
If Apollo refuses to grant his healing powers, the new "Clinic" building comes in handy. Although clinics can only delay the inevitable death of citizens, they slow down the spread of disease. Players can also host gladiatorial contests in the Colosseum, letting commoners temporarily forget their worries! Pit gladiators against beasts or have them fight each other, then decide their ultimate fate with a wave of your hand.
In addition, this update introduces a brand-new Photo Mode, allowing players to capture the city's scenic beauty and snap exciting shots of the bustling urban landscape. A new Map Editor has also been added, giving you the freedom to reshape the terrain as you wish!
This update marks a new chapter in Nova Roma's Early Access journey.
Nova Roma is now available in Early Access on PC via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, priced at ¥99. Until October 22, 2026, the game is available at a 40% discount on Steam.
