Cactile Games and dofhouse released the high-difficulty 3D action game Refund If You Can on Steam on October 13. Players must strive to complete the game before playing for two hours, then decide whether to request a refund. The developers stated on the store page that players who manage to do so are welcome to apply for a refund after clearing the game.
A two-hour countdown timer is displayed at the top of the screen. Achievements such as "Complete within two hours" and "Played within refund window" are included, making the time limit a central part of the challenge.
Players must insert a pole into objects in the air, using the rebound force from the bending pole to leap upward and continuously cross over obstacles until reaching the top of the level. Mistakes can cause the character to fall all the way down. The game allows setting one checkpoint; if you fall, you can restart from there. Players can also retract the checkpoint at any time and place it elsewhere.
The game's control challenges have been compared to Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, but it sets a clear goal with its refund time limit. Players who wish to continue challenging themselves after completing the game can compare their completion times with others via online leaderboards.
Completing the game does not automatically trigger a refund. Players must still submit a request to Steam and meet Valve's specified conditions, including having played for less than two hours and having made the purchase no more than 14 days ago.
