After the launch of Battlefield 6's Season 5, an issue with reduced XP gain efficiency emerged. Battlefield Studios confirmed that the anomaly stemmed from backend configuration changes rather than an intentional adjustment to XP rules, and the relevant configurations have now been rolled back.
Season 5 brought planned adjustments to maps, weapons, vehicles, and gameplay, but players quickly noticed that XP gains were lower than before the update. Since the rule changes were not announced prior to the patch launch, some players suspected the developers had secretly reduced rewards. Player tests showed that during the anomaly, they could earn a maximum of around 300 XP per minute.
The controversy was also linked to the concurrently released Ultimate Shortcut Bundle. Priced at $30 or £25, the bundle instantly boosts all classes, 28 weapons, and 8 vehicles, unlocking related attachments, upgrades, and some cosmetics. The sudden drop in XP coinciding with the paid shortcut sparked player skepticism.
Battlefield Studios is currently monitoring data across various modes and progression systems for weapons and other equipment to confirm that XP gains have returned to expected levels. While this rollback resolved the XP configuration anomaly, actual rewards in different gameplay modes still require further monitoring for confirmation.
