Ken Kutaragi Supports PlayStation's Gradual Phase-Out of Physical Game Discs

Ken Kutaragi, known as the "Father of PlayStation," supports Sony's gradual phase-out of physical game discs. He believes that continuing to produce physical media for PlayStation is no longer economically viable and characterizes players' attachment to game ownership as a "mindset."

Ken Kutaragi stated that he understands players' feelings regarding physical games and ownership. Sony has previously announced related arrangements, but this change will not take effect immediately; instead, it will be implemented in a few years.

Regarding digital game ownership, U.S. Representative Ritchie Torres is preparing to introduce a related bill. He argues that consumers should have the right to own, play, and transfer the games they purchase.

Another announcement made around the same time concerned the movie The Batman Part II. Warner Bros. announced that Steven Soderbergh would replace Matt Reeves as director. Reeves stepped down from the directing role due to personal matters but plans to return during the film's post-production phase.
