Following the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 5, some character skins in the Battle Pass faced criticism from players due to noticeable anomalies. DICE later responded to the controversy, confirming that "SECUTY" on McNeil's arm patch was a typo, with a fix planned for Phase 2 of Season 5.
DICE admitted that releasing the content despite knowing about the visual errors, without providing timely explanations, caused confusion and damaged player trust. These items did not meet the quality standards expected by both the team and the players. The studio is currently reviewing its internal processes and will implement stricter quality control measures.
Regarding the "Midnight Marage" skin featuring five pistols holstered on the gear, DICE stated this was not an oversight but a deliberate creative concept intended to homage the trope in exaggerated action movies where characters strap spare weapons all over their bodies. The team also acknowledged that when this design appeared alongside other visual anomalies, players easily perceived it as another mistake.
Some players also suspected these skins might have been generated using low-quality generative AI, but DICE did not directly deny these allegations, leaving the matter inconclusive. The controversial skins are part of the paid Battle Pass content; concurrently, the game also experienced an issue where the XP cap had to be rolled back after being discovered by the community.
