Player FullExtraction used custom firmware to run the 1993 classic DOOM on a Fellow Espresso Series 1 coffee machine. The game is displayed on the machine's small circular screen, with public videos showing relatively smooth performance and stable frame rates.
The mod also utilizes the coffee machine's original physical controls: the brew button moves forward, the steam button fires, and the dial rotates the character left or right. In its unmodified state, this screen is used to select drinks such as Americano, Cappuccino, or Espresso, while displaying brewing steps and extraction timing.
This isn't the first time DOOM has been ported to unconventional devices. Previously, the game has run on Anker smart charging stations without any hardware modifications; other examples include modified pregnancy tests and a version running within Fortnite.
The latest entry in the series, DOOM: The Dark Ages, was released in May 2025, followed later that year by the DOOM: The Dark Ages – Apocalypse expansion. However, these developments have no direct technical connection to the coffee machine mod. The current demonstration is solely a personal achievement using custom firmware and does not indicate that the coffee machine comes with built-in games or official support.
