Diablo IV's nostalgia-filled Season 15 is packed with callbacks to the series' history, featuring not only a full questline that recreates the main story of the original Diablo, but also an entire armor set themed around the infamous Cow Level, which first appeared in Diablo II and has long been known for its secrecy and elusiveness. Players quickly found most pieces of this cow armor set, but were missing the gloves called "Bovine Greaves," sparking a community-wide treasure hunt that lasted for weeks with no success until now. As it turns out, these Bovine Greaves weren't actually implemented in the game until now. To obtain these gloves, players need to pet a specific cow, which only officially appeared with the release of patch 3.2.3 this week.
According to the gaming site Icy Veins, and verified by this author, the latest version of Diablo IV has added a respawning cow behind the cathedral in Old Tristram. Players simply need to pet it to receive the Bovine Greaves, and that's all there is to it. For weeks, Diablo IV players scoured every corner of Season 15 in search of the missing piece of this cow-themed armor set, only for Blizzard to quietly slip it into a patch without even mentioning it in the patch notes. It's enough to make you laugh and cry at the same time.
Fortunately, the dedicated loot-grinding players of Diablo IV can finally complete the full armor set. Player Auscraft even created a helpful guide detailing the exact locations for obtaining each piece. As for the look of the cow set, it really depends on your personal preference for character transmog—some find it ridiculously ugly, while others think it's incredibly cool. Personally, I love it. The armor's design is quirky and exaggerated, and aside from this playful approach, making the armor look like a living cow grazing on the fields of Old Tristram, I can't think of any other way Blizzard could have paid homage to this iconic part of the Diablo series. Whether it's beautiful or ugly is for everyone to decide for themselves.
